Feedback on usFrom David and Liz Challen (principal funders)
"We would like you to hear from us directly our admiration for this project and for its driving forces, Timothy and Christine. We first started supporting their vision for an orphan project in the mid 1990s. At that time they were looking after a few orphans in their own home but determined to dedicate their lives to doing this work on a far larger scale. From the very beginning they have given us valuable feedback on the progress of the project, giving us the confidence to increase our support. We have now paid two visits to Malawi, the most recent in October 2006. These visits have enabled us to see at first hand what they have achieved and how they do it.
It is worth emphasising that that this is not a project which seeks to impose Western ideas of childcare. Instead it is helping the maximum number of children to get a start in life. This means raising the morale of the community and encouraging and enabling them to look after the children in their own way while providing the children with access to education and the prospect of ultimate independence.
The achievements of Timothy and Christine are enormous and you will receive some understanding of this from the website. But the most important thing you should know is that everything they do is inspired by a deep love for the children and a profound wish to enable them to triumph over their misfortunes and to take their places as successful citizens of the world. We find this inspiring and we recommend this project, and Timothy and Christine, to you without reservation. These are two remarkable people in whom you can have complete trust.
One of the challenges for people with a charitable instinct in developed countries is to know how best to help. You need people like these to deploy resources effectively and selflessly on the ground. We feel fortunate to have found Timothy and Christine to put our money to such inspired use.”

Malawi on Christian Affairs
"When I first came to know of the project run by Rev Timothy Khoviwa and His
wife I was amazed to see how the efforts of a dedicated Preacher can do in a
fight against HIV/aids and also in the uplifting of the lives if the
villagers who look after the orphaned children
Orphan Care Malawi formerly known as Adopt an orphan ministries is Helping
the Government of Malawi to provide care for 354 children at its orphan
care centre. The children there get to finger-paint, sing, play games,
learn to count and enjoy a meals three times a day. We have seen donations
used wisely to benefit the targeted groups through the Leadership of Rev and
Mrs. Khoviwa.
The main goal of the project in my view is to promote the survival, good
health, loving care, physical, intellectual and spiritual development of
orphaned children. The children attend pre-school and receive free health
care. This government provides free primary education and we have seen this
project paying for secondary fees and provide free trades to other orphaned
children who have dropped out of school. I would therefore recommend Sir
David and His family to continue trusting the Reverend with money and others
too to come up and support this worthwhile project with the hope that if the
Reverend is given adequate support the orphaned children shall prosper. And
the country shall benefit as these children shall be used in the development
of this country. The number of orphaned children in Malawi has reached at an
alarming stage as it is reaching beyond 1.2 million and the Government is
interested in sustainable approach to arrest the increase of the numbers in
orphaned children by putting in place methods that will reduce the Hiv
infection rate which we have seen that orphan care Malawi is advocating.” |
